I have been buying Hunt Country Furniture for the past 20 years. The excellence of their traditional design and handcrafted workmanship continues to amaze and reward my ownership of their furniture. I find Hunt Country crafts heirloom quality furniture of all solid American wood to be a joy to use and admire. It has been a wise investment in my home.
The company has been reorganized in 2018 and is now again in full production. I just ordered another bedroom piece. The order and delivery was handled in a first class, smooth manner. In my qualified experience and opinion, I have found Hunt Country Furniture in Wingdale, NY to be a first rate, reliable and recommended company to deal with.

For many, many years I’ve enjoyed a settee and chair I purchased at your shop near Doylestown, Pa. I’ve lived with them for between 20 and 30 years. The two pieces of furniture are just as beautiful now as when I purchased them, in fact more treasured and beautiful than the day I purchased them!!!

I, like so many people were sad to hear that the Hunt Country Furniture factory was closing about a year ago. Searching the internet last night (1/4/18), I found that the factory was re-opened and is back fully making the furniture I had grown to love! The outstanding quality, craftsmanship, and fit of dovetail drawers that have matching wood type drawers inside is second to none. I ordered one missing bedroom nightstand that matches my other pieces immediately. I am so looking forward to getting the Huntington 3 drawer nightstand in Cherry! Upon receiving I will look to add other pieces.

Drawknife Edge
Of all the finishing touches we put on our handcrafted furniture, we’re most proud of the drawknife edge used on many of the tables we create. Using the same tools artisans have used for centuries, our craftsmen work with the grain of the wood to produce a unique edge on every table. No two tables are alike, but each is produced with the same attention to detail that you expect from Hunt Country Furniture.
Handmade Original
Each piece of furniture we craft at Hunt Country Furniture goes through multiple steps in the finishing process. One by one, each is hand-sanded and hand-rubbed numerous times to enhance the patina of the wood. It is then stained as necessary in several stages. With our painted furniture, additional steps are taken such as “rubbed-through edges” and optional “distressing” to give each piece the appeal of an aged original.
Dual Gear-drive Slide
Fine furniture is more than just beautiful wood. This is called a dual gear-drive reciprocating wood table slide, but that’s more than you need to know. What it means is that you can open and close your table effortlessly. This remarkable feature comes with every extension table crafted by Hunt Country Furniture.
Box-shaved Finish
One of Lockwood Hunt’s passions was experimenting with new techniques. The box-shaved method of finishing tables was a favorite of his, and it's still available today on some pine furniture. Using a round-bladed tool called a box shaver, our craftsman carves the surface of the wood to create the unique texture that makes this collection so reminiscent of the handcrafted furniture of the early settlers.
Delicate Details
We pay strict attention to every possible detail, and the moldings on our cabinet pieces are no exception. Only one piece of wood is used for the molding, thereby providing a consistent grain pattern all the way around the top or base of our cabinets. Corners are mitered and fastened with a butterfly to provide an edge that is aesthetically pleasing and durable.
Traditional Craftsmanship
All our chairs and beds incorporate the same fine manufacturing techniques used by early craftsmen. The spindles are hand-shaped, then wedged and glued. Our continuous bows are steam bent and all seats are contoured, adding to the final touch and style.
True Raised Panel
Most of the doors on our furniture are crafted using a technique called true raised panel construction with mortise and tenon joinery. This design is practical as well as beautiful, as it adds strength and durability to all the furniture it enhances.
Dovetail Construction
We handcraft our solid wood drawers using dovetail construction. Each drawer is hand fit to its designated opening in the cabinet. Our bureaus feature a centered wooden glide. This ensures that the drawer won’t come off track or tilt, allowing the drawers to glide smoothly time after time.
